THE FISH MARKET CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL VOLUNTEER DAY WITH THE ATLANTIC COUNCIL FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

December 5, 2020

What has volunteering amidst the COVID-19 pandemic looked like? The Atlantic Council for International Cooperation (ACIC) marked December 5th, International Volunteer Day, with an e-gallery showcasing photojournalism projects from volunteers across Canada's Atlantic provinces. The Fish Market joined the initiative with the exhibit 'From Hook to Fork: A Broken Link in the Fish Chain', which invites online visitors to reflect on where their fish and seafood comes from.

"Change starts local, but it can have an impact around the globe. It could start in the middle of a pandemic with an idea, a volunteer opportunity and internet access. It could be at the palm of your hand, from a mobile device that connects you as a consumer directly to fish harvesters, and in doing so, increases local access to fish and seafood, while also benefiting fishers through the facilitated commercialization of their products and potential increase in revenue."
